• Boys Basketball: Pacific Grove Advances to CCS Division IV Semi-Finals after Defeating Harker

The Breakers just keep winning. Pacific Grove has rattled off eleven straight wins and advanced to their first CCS Division IV Semi-Finals match since 2008. Pacific Grove defeated Harker 52-45 on Saturday afternoon behind Brad Sendell’s 17 points. [02-28-15]

Again, the Breakers defense was solid. They held a team that averaged 60 points a game to only 45. The Breakers also allowed only 5 players to score for the Eagles.

The Breakers didn’t waste any time by taking a 17-8 first quarter lead. By the end of three quarters of play, the Breakers had extended their lead from 9 to 15 points.

Taking a 44-29 lead into the fourth quarter, Pacific Grove looked in control of the game. However, Harker had a strong fourth, and was able to close the gap to 49-45 with 39 seconds left in the game. The Breakers though, would not allow the Eagles to score again and would hold on for the win.

Pacific Grove had three players score in double digits. Led by Brad Sendell’s 17 points, Josh Wren added 16 and Chip Wagner had 10. Noah Dalhamer was force on the glass, grabbing a game high 15 rebounds.

#4 seed Pacific Grove (19-5, 13-1) will now play #1 seed Santa Cruz (20-6, 11-3) on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. The game will take place at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm.
