• Carmel Valley Chamber Hosts 21st Annual Chili Cook-Off

    GREAT BOWLS OF FIRE!

The Carmel Valley Chamber of Commerce (CVCC) will host the 21st Annual Chili Cook-off on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Carmel Valley Ranch, The River Ranch located at One Old Ranch Road, Carmel, California.  The event will begin at 5:00 pm and conclude at 8:00 pm. Leave it to Carmel Valley to bring the best professional chefs in the county combined with pure hearted, chili-loving amateur chefs to compete in a beautiful setting while sipping on unique margaritas prepared especially to please ones palette for a winning vote. America’s favorite comfort food will fill your bellies as you listen to the music performed by local artist Mark Banks.

The competition is getting fierce with the past professional winner, Carmel Valley Ranch’s Chef Tim Wood creating another exceptional chili, hoping to capture the People’s Choice 1st place award once again. The question however, is who will win the Golden Ladle award decided upon by blind tasting from our local Foodie Judges. Bernardus Lodge, Los Laureles Lodge, Quail Lodge, Carmel Valley Athletic Club, Big Sur Roadhouse and more will be bringing their “A” game.

The Margarita competition this year will be one not to miss!  Local maker, El Jefe tequila is the exclusive tequila that bartenders from Edgar’s at Quail Lodge, The Preserve, Will’s Fargo Dining House & Saloon and others will use to formulate a prize winning margarita. The Wine Bar will be provided by Carmel Valley Wine Experience, a collective of nine tasting rooms in Carmel Valley who are working together to increase the marketing and branding of the Carmel Valley wine region (www.cvwineexperience.com) .  And what is a CVCC event without the local Carmel Valley Brewing, who will be on hand serving up their hoppy Blonde Ale.  Dessert will be provided by Nothing Bundt Cakes, located at the Crossroads Shopping Village.

To compete in the Professional or Amateur Chili competition visit www.carmelvalleychamber.com to download the Sign-Up forms.  Awards will be given to each category in first, second and third place by ballot of the People’s Choice and the “Foodie Judges” will determine by blind tasting who wins the Golden Ladle and a Best Decorating award will also be given. Winners will be announced that night.

Advance tickets are $30 for chamber members/ $35 for non-members and $40 the day of the event, which includes one glass of local premium wine. Purchase advance tickets at www.carmelvalleychamber.com

This celebration of food and flair could not happen without the generous support of our sponsors: AT & T, Carmel Valley Ranch, Monterey County Herald, Monterey County Weekly, KRML, El Jefe Tequila, Carmel Valley Wine Experience, Pacific Etched Glass, Warren and Penny Wood and Union Bank of California
