• Fire Agencies Receive Grant for Firefighter Breathing Apparatus

Five Monterey County fire agencies have received two regional grants to purchase new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).  The two regional grant applications were approved for $1.7 million by the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, thanks to the strong support of U.S. Rep. Sam Farr (CA-20).

The fire agencies will be displaying the new equipment and recognizing Rep. Farr’s efforts at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Coast Guard Pier, at the north end of Cannery Row in Monterey, California.

The fire agencies that purchased the new SCBA equipment include:  Monterey County Regional Fire District, Monterey Fire Department, Salinas Fire Department, Seaside Fire Department, and the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm. Click here for more information on the Beach Report Card. Click the name of the beach when it pops up for more details, or choose a beach below.
