• Firearm Stolen in 1999 Recovered by Pacific Grove Police

    On August 14 at about 12:27 a.m., Pacific Grove Police officers conducted a vehicle check at the Asilomar turnout. Municipal code prohibits parking in certain areas after midnight and until 5:00 a.m.

    Officers found that the occupants of the vehicle were engaging in illegal narcotic activity. One was a known Seaside gang member.

    During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a loaded semi-automatic handgun was located. The firearm had been reported stolen from Salinas in 1999.

    The owner of the vehicle, Gustavo Lobato, 20, of Seaside was arrested on various weapons-related charges and was taken to Pacific Grove Police Department for booking, He was later housed at Monterey County Jail.
