• Former Carmel HS Coach Booked on Sex Charge

In July 2013, the Monterey Police Department began an investigation of an allegation of sexual misconduct against a minor female by a former coach for the Carmel High School Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Team. As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested Edgar Antonio Garcia-DePaz, 25, from Seaside, on a warrant for one count of oral copulation with a minor. The arrest occurred on Thurs., Nov. 7, 2013, when DePaz arrived at the Monterey Peninsula College, where he is the Assistant Soccer Coach for the Women’s team.

The investigation stemmed from an allegation by a female juvenile that DePaz forced her to perform oral copulation on him while in a car at the Del Monte Shopping Center in February 2012. At that time DePaz was a coach at Carmel High School.

DePaz was booked on the warrant at the Monterey County Jail and held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
