Pacific Grove’s great season ended on Thursday night against the #5 seed Half Moon Bay, losing 45-36. [02-26-15]

Pacific Grove again played solid defense, allowing only 45 points to Half Moon Bay. However, in the end, the Breakers could not put up enough points.

After the first quarter it was 10-8 Half Moon Bay. The lead rose to 3 at the half, and then 6 after three quarters of play. Out of Pacific Grove’s 36 points, three players combined for a total of 34. It might not have been the well balanced attack the Breakers had in mind going into the game, but it did keep them in it for most of the game.

Mackenzie Bell led the Breakers with 16 points and 5 rebounds, while Jessica Matthews had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Allie Patton added 6 points and 6 rebounds for the Breakers in their loss.

Carmel and Santa Catalina, who were also in the second round lost their games as well. Eliminating all MTAL teams from the division IV bracket. Stevenson is the lone MTAL team alive, playing in the quarterfinals of the division V bracket.
