• Monterey Fire personnel still fighting state wildfires

    wildfire webOn August 2 and 3, 2014, the Monterey Fire Department sent personnel to assist in fighting various fires around the state. As of Aug. 15, we currently still have six personnel assisting at the Eidler Fire which is located in Shasta County and has burned approximately 32,416 acres as of August 14th and is at 85 percent containment. There have been 7 residences, 2 commercial and 12 outbuilding destroyed.

    There has been intense fire activity in Northern California over the past few weeks with tens of thousands of acres burned, several structures lost, and several cases of injuries and deaths have been reported.Drought conditions have complicated the situation; however, countless lives and properties have been spared as a result of the work and coordination of public safety personnel from many agencies deployed on these incidents.
