• Soledad Defeats Pacific Grove in Boy’s and Girls’ Soccer

    Boys –

    A week after tying with Carmel, 3-3, Pacific Grove got shutout at home by Soledad on Tuesday night, 2-0. [02-10-15]

    Soledad, who leads the MTAL with a 10-1-1 record in league play, shut the Breakers out for the second time this season. The Aztecs though, have 9 shutouts on the season. Fabian Guzman scored both goals for the Aztecs. One in the first half, and one in the second to give Guzman 22 goals on the season.

    The Breakers (1-11-3, 1-9-2) will next play at Stevenson (0-12, 0-10) on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 3:30 p.m.

    Pacific Grove’s lone victory came at home against the win-less Pirates earlier in the season. Rutger Sperry had two goals for the Breakers in their 2-1 win.

    Girls –

    After starting out league play with a 7-0-2 record, the Breakers were sitting all alone in first place of the MTAL. However, since that hot start, they have lost two of their last three games, including Tuesday night’s road loss to Soledad. [02-10-15]

    After taking a 1-0 lead into the half, Pacific Grove gave up three second half goals to the Aztecs. Three different players scored for the Aztecs, who was able to get the 3-1 victory, and cause the Breakers to be in a two way tie for first in the MTAL.

    The Breakers (7-5-3, 7-2-3) will look to turn it around at home against Stevenson (4-7-2, 3-7-2) on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.

    Last time these two teams met, the Breakers defeated the Pirates 2-1, behind Jada Ware’s two goals.
