• Suspect who stole political signs caught on tape; suspect who removed other political signs is also identified

More than 100 yard signs imprinted with a “Yes on Measure X” message have been stolen or removed throughout Pacific Grove at residential and commercial sites.
Project Bella, the partnership which seeks to build a LEED Platinum hotel on the American Tin Cannery site should the citizen-originated measure be approved, is underwriting the cost of the election, which will be held on April 19. Ron Meer, Project Bella partner, says that the signs which have been stolen amount to some $1,200 in value.
Moe Ammar, Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce President, today provided video evidence of Yes on Measure X signs being removed or stolen from in front of the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce office located at 584 Central Avenue in Pacific Grove.
Five videos taken from cameras located inside the Chamber office were submitted to the Pacific Grove Police Department as evidence. The videos plainly show two separate incidents of the illegal act of impinging on the Chamber of Commerce’s right to freedom of expression. One of them also depict the theft of at least two of the signs.
The Pacific Grove Police Department are conducting an investigation and attempting to identify the suspects in the videos.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm. Click here for more information on the Beach Report Card. Click the name of the beach when it pops up for more details, or choose a beach below.
