• Tree work on Hwy 9 Monday and Tuesday, Aguajito to Holman Hwy.

Four diseased pine trees will be removed along southbound Hwy. 1 between Aguajito Road and Hwy. 68 (Holman Highway)/Hwy. 1 separation in Monterey on Tuesday, Nov. 4 and Wednesday, Nov. 5, Caltrans officials have announced. Work hours will be from 9 am to 3 p.m. both days.

The southbound #2 (right) lane will be closed to allow for a 17-foot-wide crane to work around and remove the trees. Although one lane will remain open, motorists can expect a delay of up to 30 minutes and should plan accordingly. NOTE: There will be Electronic Message Boards alerting motorists and the CHP will be present to assist with traffic control. This roadwork is being performed by the Caltrans Salinas Tree Crew and the Monterey Maintenance Crew as a safety precaution to provide motorists and cyclists a safer route to travel. A 17-foot wide crane is needed to remove four diseased pine trees from their existing locations.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm.
