• Tuesday Fire Update 7 AM Tues. 8/2/16

    The #SoberanesFire grew to 43,400 acres (28,000 CalFire, 15,400 Forestry) 18% contained. But still 57 homes, 11 outbuildings destroyed and 2000 structures threatened. There are 5451 personnel actively fighting the fire.

    Evacuation has been lifted for some areas: Santa Lucia Preserve, Riley Ranch Rd. and Red Wolf Dri. And all of Carmel Highlands. The evacuation center, as of today, is at All Saints School, 8060 Carmel Valley Rd. in Carmel.

    There remains one fatality, that of a firefighter contractor whose bulldozer rolled over on him.
