• UPDATE: Suspect arrested in Homeless Homicide Case

On June 19, 2015 at 2319 hours, JESSE DEVLIN QUIMING, 32, transient from Florida, was arrested by Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies on Highway One near Ocean Avenue. Deputies were in the area on an unrelated traffic stop when QUIMING was observed hiding in bushes along the highway.

Both the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department and Monterey Police Department were alerted to a sighting of QUIMING in the Big Sur area hours before by observant citizens.

QUIMING was taken into custody without incident and turned over to the Monterey Police Department. He was later booked into Monterey County Jail and held on the charges of Homicide and Attempted Homicide. His bail has been set at $1,500,000.

The quick resolution of this homicide was the result of a joint effort by the Monterey Police Department, the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team (PRVNT) and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

This is the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card for Monterey Peninsula beaches, which reports water quality grades, or when relevant, weather advisories. An A to F grade is assigned based on the health risks of swimming or surfing at that location. Look at the "dry" grade for all days except those "wet" days during and within 3 days after a rainstorm. Click here for more information on the Beach Report Card. Click the name of the beach when it pops up for more details, or choose a beach below.
